When to use Fresh Cow Dry Cow
For general mastitis control
Any cow exhibiting signs of clinical mastitis should be tested to adapt response to pathogen
 
For control of Staph. Aureus
New or replacement cows. Any cows with unknown Staph. aureus status should be tested before joining the clean herd.
Fresh Cows. When there is a suspicion of Staph. aureus in the herd, all fresh cows need to be tested before they join the clean herd.
Staph. aureus cows that have been treated. Post-treatment Testing of Staph. aureus cows will tell you whether treatment was successful. Staph. aureus treatment failure rate is high.
Selective Dry Cow Therapy. RMT and test positive quarters to adapt DCT.
